Although my first book was set in the Pacific Northwest, books two and three are both set on the East coast. I do look up information about the places my characters are in fairly frequently, along with products they might buy, businesses they might work in, etc.
Sadly, despite what the search engine thinks, I do not have any upcoming travel plans, nor plans to purchase a multi-million dollar estate property in the Hudson Valley of New York. I’m not making fabulous jewelry. I’m not in the market for amazing antiques. I don’t plan to hire a car service in New York City.
I do plan to have a very busy time at my actual job this week, which will probably block all progress on book three, at least until Friday. I’d originally hoped to finish the first drafts of all three books during the summer, but that’s not going to happen. Still, I’m pleased with how things are going, and 2.5 books between Memorial Day and Labor Day would still be a LOT of writing.
My previous hobbies are definitely abandoned, though. There’s a pile of blanket yarn collecting dust in my living room, and I spend almost no time actually reading books. At some point, I’ll need to rebalance.
